Frequently Asked Questions
You would now have to return to the store and upgrade the license to the next tier, preferably the "Unlimited License".
The license must be upgraded to the "Exclusive License" or a discuss a buyout agreement with formal negotiation.
Yes. Upon purchase, If you need the intro extended, a bridge added, or specific instruments dropped out to make room for your vocals, I will re-arrange the beat to fit your specific song structure at no extra cost.
A reference track is a version of the beat that includes a guide vocal (lyrics and/or melody) recorded by me. It is designed to show you the structural, rhythmic pocket and melodic potential of the track. It serves as a blueprint for your own recording.
Yes. If you use the specific vocal melodies or lyrics provided in the reference track, I am considered a co-writer of the song. The Split: Typically, this results in a 50/50 Composition/Publishing split (split between the beat production and the songwriting). Registration: We will both need to be listed on the split sheet and registered with a PRO (like BMI & SAMRO).
Absolutely. The reference track is a foundation. However, since the melody is a core part of the composition, the songwriting credit mentioned above still applies.
Yes. Mechanical royalties are paid to songwriters/publishers whenever a song is streamed or downloaded. Most digital distributors (DistroKid, TuneCore) do not automatically split these. You will need to ensure that 50% of the publishing is assigned to me on your Split Sheet so that my publishing administrator can collect these.
"Important: Sample Clearance Notice. Some beats in this store contain samples that may require clearance for commercial distribution. By purchasing a license, you acknowledge that "Khetha Sodlakela Audé Bele" is not responsible for clearing these samples. You, the licensee, are 100% responsible for all third-party clearances related to the final song. My license covers my labor and original composition only, not the underlying rights of sampled material."
If a beat contains a prominent sample, it will usually be noted in the 'Beat Description' or 'Tags.' If you are unsure, feel free to message me before purchasing and I will let you know the source.
No. Absolutely not. When you purchase a license, you are buying a non-transferable right to use the music for your own song. You do not own the music itself; I retain 100% of the copyright. You are strictly prohibited from "flipping" the beat, re-uploading it to your own store, or selling it to a third party.
The Master: This is the actual audio file. When you license a beat, you are buying the right to create a new master using my music. I still own the original instrumental master. The Composition: This is the "soul" of the song (the melody and lyrics). If you use the melody or lyrics from my Reference Track, we are co-owners of the composition. If you write 100% of your own lyrics and melody, you own your side of the composition, and I own the music side.
